GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

Conservation Voters New Mexico (CVNM) and CVNM Education Fund are a family of nonprofit organizations headquartered in Santa Fe, NM with a satellite office in Albuquerque, NM. Our vision is for New Mexicans to thrive in just, resilient communities where our conservation and cultural values guide our decision-makers and public policies. CVNM connects New Mexicans to their political power to protect our air, land and water by mobilizing voters, winning elections, holding elected officials accountable and advancing responsible public policies. CVNM Education Fund engages New Mexicans in protecting our air, land, water and the health of our communities by mobilizing people to advocate on policy, enhancing the voting process, encouraging people to vote, cultivating conservation leaders and amplifying the voices of those most affected.

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

The Development Assistant works in a collaborative environment to support a robust and growing grassroots fundraising program that complements the organization’s overall fundraising strategy, determined in conjunction with the Development Director.

Reports To: Development Director

Activities may include, but are not limited to, the following:

  1. Manage all mail and online grassroots fundraising appeal activities
    • Plan and implement an annual calendar of direct mail and online campaigns
    • Draft appeal messages in accordance with organizational messaging and fundraising best practices
    • Manage web donation pages and fundraising-related web content
    • Manage and expand a growing recurring donor program
  2. Support fundraising and donor stewardship events program
    • Draft event materials and announcements
    • Coordinate logistics with venues, vendors and volunteers
    • Track event registration and sponsorships
  3. Provide general support to the Development Department
    • Process gift acknowledgements
    • Maintain donor database and files with accurate information
    • Timely reply to donor correspondence and requests
    • Prepare reports and materials for the board and development committee
    • Use and develop administrative systems to support fundraising efforts
  4. Participate in department and organization-wide planning and activities
    • Develop annual goals, metrics and work plans
    • Assist with building the budget for the department
    • Participate in staff meetings, strategic planning and retreats
    • Participate in conferences and trainings with national partner, the League of Conservation Voters
  5. Other duties as assigned.

  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree or equivalent

Preferred qualifications:

  • Bilingual candidates welcomed and encouraged.
  • Previous nonprofit development or relatedexperience.

Salary Range and benefits:

$30-$35k. Salary negotiable.
